When a tooth is lost, it is important to replace it to prevent bone from shrinking and shifting of the dentition which can lead to jaw problems. Misaligned teeth are more difficult to clean and are more exposed to disease of the gums and decay. If you are missing teeth, you can replace them with a removable prosthesis, a bridge, or an implant.
A dental implant is a small titanium screw that replaces the root portion of missing a tooth. It is inserted in the bone under the same local anesthetic that is used for all other dental procedures. A crown is then screwed on top of the implant. Implants can replace one or many missing teeth. Dr Chrétien performs all phases of dental implants, including the surgery and the crown.
